A G4 geomagnetic storm resulted in 5 Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) that blanked the earth causing Kp8 auroral activity visible in much lower latitudes than usual. The clear skies and 10% moon helped. The storm was so strong the aurora show was visible directly overhead instead of along the northern horizon.
